Where was the town supervisor?

Posted

This past Wednesday (Nov 20) the Town of Montgomery held a Work Session to adopt the 2020 Town Budget. Rod Winchell was not present. The 4 board members did not why he was not there. Not until the Town attorney claimed Mr Winchell contacted him and claimed he would not attend citing “personal reasons”.

The problem is that Mr. Winchell did not attend budget meetings on Nov. 18 and Oct. 17. To compound the problem the Deputy Supervisor was not in attendance on Nov. 20, 18. I believe the residents of Montgomery are entitled to a explanation as to why the Supervisor and his Deputy were not in attendance for some of the most important meetings during a Towns fiscal year.

If you attended or viewed RPM live stream of these budget meetings, it would be apparent to you that our Town Board is in disarray. It has also come to my attention that our Supervisor, Mr. Winchell, is rarely found at his desk since election results. If true, I believe the salary of both Supervisor and Deputy should be withheld until a investigation is conducted on their absence.

Fortunately for residents the Town Board was flipped on Nov. 5. We have a new Supervisor and 2 new Counsel members.

It is my hope that they will bring order back to our Town.

There are many campaign promises, we as residents, must make our new board uphold. There are many new appointments that must be made. Again, I hope that all consideration will be given to the residents and their wishes.

Good luck to Supervisor Maher and his NEW board! I hope that I can help you in a smooth transition to a new functional Town Government.
