HELP WANTED TOWN OF MARLBOROUGH is currently seeking an applicant for Town Board Council member to fill a vacant seat on the Marlborough Town Board. The selected applicant will serve the remaining term of the vacant seat beginning on January 1, 2022 and run through December 31, 2023. The selected applicant will be expected to run for office in the 2023 general election to continue serving as Council Member on the Marlborough Town Board. The selected applicant would serve as one of the members of a five-member Board.
The Town Board members manage the day-to-day operations of the Town Government and are accountable for the health, safety, and welfare of all citizens in the Town of Marlborough.
Must be at least 21 years of age
General knowledge of local government
Must be a Town of Marlborough resident
Must be a registered voter in the Town of Marlborough
Town Board Council Member duties include, but are not limited to:
Adopting zoning and land use regulations
Contributing to and adopting a yearly budget, which includes funding for a vast array of Town services and approve expenditures
Schedules public hearings to consider legislation
Authorizes service agreements and contracts
Awards bids for construction, equipment and materials
Accepts dedicated roads that meet Town standards
Oversees building projects, Town buildings, infrastructure upgrades, parks and recreation
The ideal candidate will:
Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills
Be both self-motivated and possess a team mindset
Possess local Government experience and knowledge of various resources and display public speaking skills.
