Breonna Taylor remembered at vigil

One year after the shooting of Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky, City of Newburgh activists came together at the corner of Broadway and Lander for a memorial for Taylor and a call to action to hold police accountable. In attendance was councilman Omari Shakur and Orange County Legislator candidate Gabrielle Hill, among others. “The brutal murder by Police of Breonna Taylor March 13, 2020, shook communities around our nation,” said Hill. “In the black community it was a painful reminder of the harm committed against us with no repercussions, a tragedy on top of a tragedy. However, tonight’s circle in her honor brought community members together. The candle lighting signified giving light and comfort to each other as we brave the bitter cold experiences of life.”
