The project known as “Britain Woods” will return on December 15 for a public scoping session to collect resident feedback subject to the revisions of a draft scope prepared for the Town of Newburgh Planning Board’s review. A scoping session is an opportunity for members of the public to provide feedback and input on environmental impacts to a site for a proposed project.

The Britain Woods project, represented by the engineering firm Engineering and Surveying Properties, PC is a proposed 258 multi-family unit development along Little Britain Road, on a 48 plus or minus acre parcel. The project is proposed at the property identified as 442 Little Britain Road. The development has shown various amenities such as athletic courts, mixed-use spaces and a clubhouse.

The project received a positive declaration back in October from the board.

Discussed during the course of the meeting were concerns on City of Newburgh water mains that run through the existing site and additional sewer maintenance will need to be addressed. Meetings with the city have been held according to Ross Winglovitz of Engineering and Surveying Properties.

Patrick Hines of MHE Engineering addressed comments to the board about requesting boring tests before any site blasting is to commence and any additional grading plan is needed. The applicant will need to review the Tree Preservation Law passed in the town, and the applicant was also requested to address various impacts to the Quassaick Creek Watershed is identified in the site. The applicant must also address access to water for the site and other utilities that will be needed.
