Car wash proposed for Rte. 300

ADS Properties proposed to the Newburgh Planning Board a new car wash site for the town at 1295 Route 300. The existing property is a Meineke service station. The project applicant also proposed a right turn lane be constructed in front of the property.

With this specific right turn lane, customer vehicles will be able to enter on-site easily. According to the applicant, the proposed lane can hold five cars.

The applicants also proposed using an integrated technology system built on-site that would help move the cars quicker through the site.

Alternatively, the technology used for the site can be operated manually, there can be integration of text/email notifications for customers to be aware of the status of their wash and integrated preset operations can be inputted into the site system.

The current placement of the property runs along a two-way state route which raised concerns and comments from the Planning Board.

“The one question we (the board) had, and I think we discussed it a little bit in workshop was, we’re still going to do the no left turn out of the facility onto 300, correct,” member David Dominick said. The applicant replied yes, that is the plan in the proposal.

“I know the left turn there, and it’s treacherous,” member John Ward said. “It’s an accident waiting to happen.” The applicant will be awaiting more feedback from the Department of Transportation. The engineering company overseeing the project was not available for comment.
