Carmen “Nooch” Delessio the owner of Carmen’s Barber Shop, Maybrook, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.  He was 91.

The son of Felice and Mafalda Troina Delessio, he was born on November 2, 1931 in Bronx, NY.  He was a Veteran of the Air Force.  He worked until two months ago.  He was retired from the Cadet Barber Shop, West Point, and from Orange Farm, which is now Valley View. He had his own barber shop in Campbell Hall when he was 15 years old.  He always worked in the barber shop on Tower Avenue, Maybrook.   

The family would like to thank Dr. Rametta, Kim, his caregiver, Steve and Carmen’s brother, Phil.  He had three sayings: Stick and stay is bound to pay; Don’t get fed up with the set-up; and The boss wears a different hat, not that he followed the rules, he did things his way.  He loved to dance and sing. 

Camen is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Horton Delessio at home; sons: Carmen Delessio of South Salem, NY and Joseph Delessio (Annemarie) of Olive Bridge, NY; daughter, Ann VanDemark  (Randy) of Pine Bush; brothers:  John Delessio of Newburgh and Philip Delessio of Montgomery; sister, Teresa Jardine of Latham; brother-in-law Chuck Horton of Florida, Ny; grandchildren: Stacy, Kelly, Eva, Erin, Andie, Natalie, Henry, Audrey and Adeline; great grandchildren: Adalyn, Sophia, Kayden and Aubree; nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Albert Delessio and daughter-in-law, Amy.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 28th from 2-4 p.m. at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard Street, Walden.  Cremation will be in the Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh.
