The City of Newburgh has announced the installation of additional stop signs at multiple intersections citywide.
The intersection of First Street and Liberty Street, Renwick Street and South Lander Street, and Dupont Avenue and Thompson Street will all become four-way stops.

The City will install additional stop signs on Liberty Street at the intersection of First Street. Stop signs are already present at the intersection of First Street, and this change will alter the intersection from a 2-way stop to a 4-way stop.

Furthermore, the City will install additional stop signs on Renwick Street at the intersection of South Lander Street. This change will alter the intersection, creating a 4-way stop. At the intersection of South Lander Street, there are already stop signs in both directions of travel.

Lastly, the City will install additional stop signs on Dupont Avenue at the intersection of Thompson Street. This alteration will create a 4-way stop at that intersection. Stop signs are already present at the intersection of Thompson Street in both directions of travel.

In the interest of public safety and to mitigate the potential for motor vehicle accidents, the City unanimously voted to install these new stop signs at these three critical intersections. Stop bars and stop stencils will also be used to guide traffic safely.
