City of Newburgh plans parade, tree lighting

The City of Newburgh announces the Annual Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting will take place on Saturday, December 7.

The City-wide parade route will begin at 3 p.m. from the Department of Public Works Headquarters and will end at lower Broadway in front of City Hall where the tree lighting will occur at approximately 6 p.m.

The highly anticipated Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting will embark from the Department of Public Works Headquarters, 88 Pierce’s Road, and make its way to South Street, Broadway, Dubois Street, and will travel throughout the East End and waterfront. Department vehicles and decorated floats from the Fire, Police, DPW, Water, and Recreation Departments will transport Santa and friends through the City’s neighborhoods to spread cheer and joy this holiday season.

The parade will conclude on lower Broadway in front of City Hall, where a DJ and hot chocolate station will entertain the crowd and accompany the tree lighting, which is scheduled for approximately 6p.m.

The Holiday Parade route has been mapped to cover as many City streets as possible. For those residents not directly on the parade route, the City has designated Delano Hitch Park and the Newburgh Armory Unity Center along South William Street as viewing areas to enjoy the parade. Residents should keep an ear out for sirens and holiday music as the parade makes its way through their neighborhoods.
