DJ was born and raised in Newburgh NY where he lived all of his life. To know DJ was to love him. DJ wore many hats during his life time but the one he took the most pride in was being a loving husband to his beautiful wife Kaitlyn Romano and amazing father to his two beautiful daughters, Adrianna (2) and Alina (1). DJ was predeceased by his grandparents Edward and Maryann Meddaugh, Joseph and Irene Romano, George McGrath and his long time best friend and pup, Remi. DJ left behind his loving mother Kimberli Romano, his father James Romano, brother Jimmy Romano (Amelia Romano), his nieces RaeLynn Giovanna Romano (3) and Georgia Grace Romano (1); cousins Gina Cannova and son JoJo; aunt and uncle, Karen and John Cantone, cousins Isabella and Joey of Marlboro, NY; aunt and uncle, Tony and Jeannie Ciccone, cousins Mikey and Dana of New Windsor NY. Knowing DJ was to know Football & Family. As a kid he and his brother were coached by their father and truly took off from there. DJ’s passion and stardom for football began at NFA as a proud Goldback where he was well respected as the team’s captain. He then attended college at Suny Cortland for 4 years where he held the record for all time interceptions.

Daniel proudly joined the Town of Newburgh Police Department in 2018. Daniel served in the patrol division and distinguished himself through his dedicated work ethic and commitment to the community where he was raised. Whether he was taking an illegal handgun off the street or taking a picture with a child, Daniel shined as a bright spot in the department. Daniel earned a position on the Town of Newburgh Tactical Unit in 2021 and has been posthumously promoted to the rank of Detective. Daniel was beloved by his co-workers for his positive attitude, humor and acts of kindness and will be greatly missed by all.
