The recent announcement by SUNY to add the “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice” (DEISJ) course as a requirement for obtaining a diploma makes no sense. If it is to be added at all it should be as an elective.

Will it replace any of some of the existing requirements for engineers?
Thermodynamic System Engineering
Biomechanics
Dynamical Systems

Fluid Mechanics
Mechanics of Machine Elements
Additive Manufacturing
Computer Aided Engineering

I cannot understand why a student working toward a STEM or other technical diploma should be required to take this clearly biased course.

This clear attempt to poison what has been an economical path for New York students to enhance their career opportunities should be rejected.
