Donald A. Dietrichsen, of New Windsor, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. He was 89.

 Son of the late Leon and Marie (Spangenberg) Dietrichsen, he was born June 4, 1932 in Binghamton, NY.

 “Deak”, as he was known by family and friends, was a Communication and Community Relations Manager with I.B.M., Sterling Forest, retiring in 1993. He proudly served his country with the US Navy during the Korean War. Deak was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church and was a former member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was an avid NY Giants and Yankee fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Deak was a star football player in his youth, a beloved coach when his children were young, and a popular gym enthusiast in his later years. 

Survivors include his wife, Arlene A. “Miki” Dietrichsen; a son, Donald A. Dietrichsen, Jr. of Cary, NC; daughters, Denise Sullivan of Charlotte, NC, Diane Desern of Raleigh, NC, Debbie Dietrichsen (Mike Flinn), of Wellsville, OH, and stepdaughter Deirdrea Reis-DeSantis (Rand) of Wallkill, NY; five grandchildren, Justin Allen (Katherine) Joshua Allen (Allison), Daniel J. Wallace, RJ DeSantis and Bridget DeSantis (his “Jock”); four great grandchildren; Peyton, Camden, Leon, and Jett; Brother and Sister in Law Harold and Marilyn McMahon, Sister in Law Patricia Corwin, Nieces Karen Bidosky (Jake - his beloved partner in crime) and Nancy Corwin; Nephews, Kevin McMahon (Sherry) and Glen Corwin ( Sandy). Deak is also survived by his lifelong friend Billy Muska. 

 In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepson, Douglas Reis in 2014 and his son in law, Larry Sullivan in 2016.

Don was extremely grateful to love and be loved by so many. We will forever miss the music of his whistling, the warmth of his hugs, and the kindness of his voice. 
Cremation has taken place at Cedar Hill Crematory.

Private Interment will take place at a later date in the family plot with his parents, in the Chenango Valley Cemetery, Binghamton, NY.

 In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald’s name can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
