Doris M. Greene, of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on Friday, November 26, 2021. She was 89.

The daughter of the late Richard R. and Marie E. (McCann) Kelly she was born on December 14, 1931 in Wappingers Falls, NY. 

Doris was retired from the Town of Newburgh where she served as town clerk from 1980 to 2000. While town clerk she was instrumental in obtaining the backing for the construction of the Town of Newburgh Police Headquarters building and the Town of Newburgh Animal Shelter.   Ever civic minded, Doris simply loved politics, she was a member of the Orange County Republican Committee.  Before being elected Town Clerk Doris worked in the office at Newburgh Free Academy where she helped with the formation of The Friends of N.F.A. She was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Division #3 Warwick where she served as division recording secretary. In her earlier years she was an active golfer and skier. A strong woman of faith she had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother. Above all, family loyalty was paramount to Doris. 

Survivors include one son Brian P. Greene and his companion Mary Millius of the Town of Newburgh, one daughter Lynne M. Koval and her husband John W. Koval of Warwick; two grandchildren Sean Greene, Megan Andrews and her husband Staff Sgt. Kyle Andrews. and also one great granddaughter Makayla. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.  

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 1,  from 5 to 8  pm at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Road (Rt. 32), Newburgh, NY. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, December 2nd at 11:00 am.   (NOT CONFIRMED) 

Burial will follow in St. Mary’s cemetery in Wappingers Falls, NY.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Doris’s memory have been asked to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at www.cff.org or The American Stroke Association at www.stroke.org.
