Eileen Ann McAleer (McVeigh) of Wallkill, entered into eternal rest Friday, December 15, 2023 in Newburgh, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 59.
Daughter of the late Bernard and Margaret McVeigh, she was born September 18, 1964 in New York City.
Eileen was a 1982 graduate of Wallkill Senior High School. She graduated from Nursing School at Orange County Community College earning her associate degree in nursing in 1990 then her RN licensure. In 2002 she received her certification as a Nurse Amma Therapist from New York College of Health. Eileen lived in Yonkers for many years and worked as a registered nurse at New York Presbyterian Hospital in Westchester. She recently moved back to the area to reside near where she was raised.
On October 24, 2009 she married her loving and committed husband John McAleer who survives her at home in Newburgh.
She was predeceased on March 7, 1998 by her dearest sister and best friend Maureen McVeigh Carey.
Eileen was most fond of traveling and particularly enjoyed frequent visits to Ireland where she still has family and many dear friends. She was a wonderful person and friend to so many. She will always be remembered for her faithfulness to God, love of family, duty to her patients, quick witted humor, and her special kindness to others.
A funeral mass was held at St. Charles Borromeo, Gardiner.
Cremation will take place privately.
