Town of Newburgh EMS hosts Trunk or Treat

The Town of Newburgh and Town of Newburgh Emergency Medical Services [TONEMS] hosted their annual Trunk or Treat celebrations last Friday and welcomed many Newburgh families in costume who came to collect candy in anticipation of the Halloween holiday celebrations.

The Trunk or Treat concept is where families or groups with their various vehicles decorate them with various themes or create scenes to celebrate the Halloween season. Children with their families will then have the opportunity to walk around to all of the trunks at the event and collect candy.

The TONEMS Trunk or Treat was held at their headquarters on Route 52 and featured decorated trunks from several of the TONEMS personnel. For TONEMS, this Trunk or Treat would be their fifth annual one. Members of the local fire departments such as Coldenham, Good Will and Winona Lake and members of the Town of Newburgh Police Department and the New York State Troopers also participated in the festivities by distributing candy and decorating their vehicles.

Over the course of the evening, the event featured several outdoor games and activities for families along with several treats and drinks to enjoy. Featured this year were the Fat Boyz and Not My Wife’s Cooking food trucks and for their entertainment, DJ Swizz Mixz provided lively music for the crowd to enjoy and even had several dance offs during the evening.

Heading over to Chadwick Lake, residents lined up at the entrance way to the event by the park pavilion and checked in with recreation staff before entering. Families were asked to register prior to arrival. Walking along the path to the trunks along the lakeside, families saw trunks with Ghostbuster and Christmas themes and also enjoyed live music in the background. Several Halloween blow up decorations were available for family and friends to enjoy some photos with during the evening.

TONEMS and the town would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the families that came out and enjoyed their night at the event and look forward to hosting Trunk or Treat next year.
