Georgia Sullivan, of New Windsor, NY, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh. She was 83 years old.
The daughter of James and Frances Reville, Georgia was born in New York City on February 3, 1941. Georgia is survived by her children – Jeremiah Sullivan, Frances Sullivan, Elizabeth Sullivan, and James & Yvette Sullivan, as well as her grandchildren, Hannah Sullivan, Daniel Sullivan, and Caleb Sullivan. She is also survived by her sister, Susan Pollack & husband Dr. Elliot Pollack, and nephews James and Dennis.
Georgia was a devoted wife to her husband, JJ, for 34 years, until his passing in 1999. She was a doting mother to her children. She retired from NYS DDSO after 20+ years as a Case Manager. She was a fierce and knowledgeable advocate for the rights and needs of the Intellectually Disabled / Developmentally Disabled community, and she held many positions within NYS DDSO and The ARC of the Greater Hudson Valley.
As a grandmother, nothing brought her more joy, and nobody was prouder (or louder) in the stands, at every sporting, school or social event that she could attend. She was always there to support of the people she loved. She enjoyed the road trips with her son to attend soccer and basketball tournaments that her grandchildren were participating in.
Georgia never believed in standing still for too long. She loved to cook and to bake for her family and friends and was an excellent seamstress, knitter and quilter! She would often share her creations with those she loved. Her stained glass pieces were also something to behold!
Georgia was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband Jeremiah Sullivan, and her brother, James Reville.
