Jacobson to distribute COVID Test Kits in Town of Newburgh and City of Poughkeepsie

Assemblymember Jonathan Jacobson (D-Newburgh) will be hosting a drive-thru COVID test kit giveaway at Meadow Hill School (124 Meadow Hill Road) in the Town of Newburgh on Saturday, January 22 at 9am. Each car will receive 2 test kits each until supplies run out.

Jacobson said, “I am pleased to be able to put these much-needed COVID rapid tests in the hands of my constituents. These tests are particularly needed in the Newburgh area since there is no county-run site in Orange County.

“While there are early indications that the highly contagious Omicron variant may be slowing, we must continue to be vigilant,” Jacobson continued. “We are at a critical moment and must continue to protect vulnerable members of our community by getting vaccinated, wearing good quality masks, staying home if we’re sick, and testing to ensure we are not exposing others to this potentially deadly virus.”

Jacobson has already distributed hundreds of rapid COVID-19 test kits and KN-95 masks at his Newburgh and City of Poughkeepsie district offices as well as to Mental Health America of Dutchess County, Town of Newburgh Volunteer EMS, Beacon Ambulance Corps, and Beacon Mutual Aid.

This will be the second test kit distribution at the Meadow Hill School. The first one on Jan. 8, hosted by Orange Cunty and the Town of Newburgh, lasted just 20 minutes before all avaialable test kits had been distributed.

Jacobson will be hosting another drive-thru distribution on Thursday, January 27 at 4pm at the Family Partnership (29 North Hamilton Street) in the City of Poughkeepsie.
