John Lenio, 90, of Wallkill passed away May 25, 2024.
John was born February 10, 1934 in Forest City, PA. He is the son of the late John Lenio and Katherine (Timsic) Lenio. He and his wife of 64 years, Gertrude (Kopaskie) raised their family in Wallkill, NY in the home he built.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by Mary Kate (Andy) Schnog of Stamford, CT, Jack (Lynne) Lenio of Petaluma, CA, and Kevin (Kristina) Lenio of Ontario, CA. He is also survived by his siblings Barbara (Phil) Slakoper of Highland, NY, and William (Janice) Westerhouse of Warwick, RI. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Maggie (Justin) Lindemann, Sam (Emily) Schnog, Jack Schnog, and Ben Lenio, and his great grandchildren Owen, Porter, Peyton, and Carter.
John retired from Wallkill Senior High School after 32 years of teaching. He and his wife spent their retirement traveling the world with Friendship Force and enjoying spending time with family and friends at their vacation home they built in Wells, ME. He was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church, Gardiner, NY and St. John Byzantine Catholic Church in Forest City, PA. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Club, Master of the Plattekill Grange, NYSTRS member and served in the US Army.
