John S. Monforte of Wawarsing, NY, formerly of Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on Friday, March 12, 2021. He was 95.

Son of the late Vincenzo and Rose (Favasa) Monforte he was born on April 2, 1925 in Plattekill,

“Model A. John” as he was known to friends and family was a retired truck driver with Teamsters Local # 445, who proudly served his country in the US Navy. He was an extreme car enthusiasts, especially for Model A’s, spending unending hours restoring them and repairing them for anyone in need. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, and a member of the Model A Restorer’s Club and the Skull Street Rod Club. He also possessed a great sense of humor, which he used to lighten everyone’s days. 

Survivors include a son, John (Joy) Monforte of Grahamsville, NY; a daughter, Rosemary (Art) Valenza of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; a son-in-law, David Deyo of the Town of Newburgh; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy A. (Curtis) Monforte in 2012; a daughter Debra A. Deyo in 2020; a grandson, Jeramey J. Orlando in 2020, and several brothers and sisters.

Visitation will take place from 4:  pm to 7 pm on Friday, March 19, 2021 at White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 N. Plank Road, Newburgh, NY.

Due to the continued public health concerns, please know that there is an occupancy limitation which may cause a wait time, please be respectful of your time visiting. Facial covering must be worn in the funeral home at all times, and social distancing must be practiced.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am, Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Our Lady of Fatima Church.

Burial will follow with Military Honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Marlboro, NY.
