Joseph D. Milano Jr., of New Windsor, formerly of Maspeth, Queens and Oceanside, NY, died peacefully January 25, 2021 at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, and COVID-19. 

He was born January 20, 1953 in Oceanside to the late Joseph Milano and Mary Stalker. 

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital who cared for him these past few weeks. Also, thank you to Dr. Marc Rappaport and his team at Crystal Run Healthcare, Newburgh who fought with him every step of the way and encouraged him in his fight with cancer. Their support, kindness, and humor greatly helped him cope through numerous cancer treatments. 

Joe really enjoyed working at STERIS Applied Sterilization Technologies in Chester, NY and always said he wished he found that job when he was younger. The camaraderie and support of his team at STERIS meant a lot to him and was greatly appreciated.

Outside of work, Joe enjoyed fishing and hunting with his buddies Henry, Harry, and Scott. He also enjoyed reading Sherlock Holmes and King Arthur stories, traveling (especially to Walt Disney World), and car rides spent listening to Neil Diamond and Simon & Garfunkel. 

Joe is survived by his wife of 38 years Colleen (Tyrrell) Milano and his only and most beloved daughter Katie Milano; Brothers Jim and Jeff Milano of Bethpage, NY. Many sisters and brothers-in laws and their families. Best friends of over 60 years Bill Wahl, Chris Mann, and Rich Sala; Numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and much adored dog, Oscar.

He was predeceased by his uncles Edwin and John Stalker of Oceanside, NY; niece and dessert buddy Amy Wahl of Medford, NY; and loved dogs Zorba, Brodie, Blackie, Missy, and Andy.
