Kathleen M. Shafer, of Newburgh, NY, entered into rest on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her family. She was 76.
Daughter of the late Thomas E. and Terese E. (Corcoran) Crusie, she was born December 23, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY.
Kathleen was a retired bookkeeper for Vanacore and DiBenticus CPA, Newburgh. She also volunteered for many years at St. Patrick’s Church where she was a dedicated parishioner. She enjoyed crocheting and going to the movies, and was an avid fan of both the Yankee’s and the WNBA, as well as various sports. She was also involved with the Cornwall Jayce’s. As the recipient of a heart transplant, she held dear anything surrounding organ donation.
Survivors include sons, Thomas (Andrea) Shafer, Jr., of Plattekill, Martin Shafer of FL, and Thomas Shafer of Newburgh, NY; two daughters, Lisa Pizzarelli of Newburgh and Cherie (Alan) Ferguson of Marlboro; nine grandchildren, Andrew (Tara), Nicholas, Joseph, Vinnie, Sarah, Hannah, Noah, Miles, and Amaryllis; five great grandchildren, Mia, Jameson, Frankie, Opal, Aubrey; two nieces, Michelle and Samantha and one great nephew, Christopher, and her beloved fur companion, Oliver.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Marshall Shafer and a sister, Christine Gesner.

Visitation for family and friends, will be Sunday, November 3, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation, 188 N. Plank Road, Newburgh, NY 12550.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am, Monday, November 4, at St. Patrick’s Church, 55 Grand Street, Newburgh, NY, with Fr. Fernando Hernandez officiating.
