Kennan Lawrence Ryan Sr. - 59, of Newburgh, NY passed away on December 5, 2023, after having a massive heart attack on October 20, 2023. He will always be remembered for his devotion and love to his family and friends.
Kennan Lawrence Ryan Sr. was born April 18, 1964, in Port Chester, New York. He graduated from Blind Brook High School in 1982 followed by Orange County Community College to pursue a degree in electrical engineering. Kennan was employed by NYS- DDSO for over 33 years and retired in 2020. He was also the proud co-owner of Ever-Green Interior Plant Care for 25 years. Kennan loved his music, especially the Grateful Dead, Zappa, and Dave Matthews, of which he attended many concerts throughout his lifetime. He loved playing golf with his family and friends and was a Giants football fan. Kennan enjoyed camping with his family and living life to the fullest.
In 1984, Kennan met his wife Annie Seligmann while working at Stouffers Inn of Westchester, NY. They were married on August 28, 1988, in Middletown. In 1991 they were blessed with their first son, Kennan Lawrence Ryan Jr, and on August 13, 1996, their second blessing, Nicholas Gene Ryan was born. Kennan loved his family with all of his heart and soul.
Kennan was an active member for 21 years of the Knights of Columbus #444 of which he was chairman of their annual memorial car show and Past Faithful Navigator of Francis J. Gorman Assembly #696.
Kennan is predeceased by his mother Jeanne M. Ryan who passed away two weeks before Kennan’s heart attack. His father, Charles Ryan passed in 2004. Kennan is survived by his wife, Annie Ryan, his children Kennan Ryan Jr, Nicholas Ryan, and his devoted pup, Maddy. He is also survived by his family members, Amy (Barry) Wynkoop, Megan (Vic) Ziminsky, Nora (Ned) Golterman, Chip (Suzanne) Ryan, Sally Ryan (Lisa Holmes), Kelly Ryan (Dave Gartrell), Sister in law- Tina (Chris) Montanye, Brother in law- Martin (Lisa) Enright, nephews and nieces- Ryan, Garret, Erik (Sara) Wynkoop, Megan (Michael) Romano, Victor (Ally) Ziminsky, Philip, Kathleen, Joan (Drew Cooper), Marian, Helen, Greg Ziminsky, Sam Golterman, Max (Ellie) Golterman, Marta Golterman, Spencer, Bennett, Halle, Cassidy and Regan Ryan, Sam , Charlee Kate Gartrell, Dr. Evan (Molly) Montanye, Alex (Trista) Montanye, Jonathan and Clint Enright and grandnieces/ nephews Margaret, Lawton, Roan, Beckett, and Aila.
Calling hours will be Friday, December 15, 2023, from 3 - 6 p.m. at the Hudson Valley Funeral Home, 239 Quassaick Avenue, New Windsor, New York 12553. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 10am at Sacred Heart Church 301 Ann Street, Newburgh, NY. Kennan will be cremated, and internment will be at the Cedar Hill Cemetery Mausoleum in Newburgh, NY.
