Posted

The national Olmsted Network is hosting its annual conference in Newburgh and Poughkeepsie on September 13-15— and we are offering a special discount to local community members!

Come learn about the treasured landscapes in your own backyard, including Downing Park— the last great work of Central Park designers Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux— and Frederic Church's Olana State Historic Site.

The conference will include lectures by national and local scholars and expert-guided tours of Downing Park, Springside, Vassar College and other beloved Hudson River Valley landscapes. Keynote speakers include Frank Kowsky, Sara Zewde and Yvonne Elet, and panel speakers include Dr. Howard Frumkin of the Trust for Public Land, Robert Kirkbride of Parsons School of Design and more. Visit our website to find more speakers.

Community members can use the discount code "local50" to get 50% off conference tickets and Pride of the Hudson dinner cruise tickets. Registration closes Sept 9. Conference tickets include lunch. Student scholarships and community financial aid scholarships are available via an application form.

At our 2024 Awards Dinner on Sept 15, the Olmsted Network will be awarding our prestigious Caroline Loughlin Volunteer Service Award to The Garden Club of Orange and Dutchess Counties & Newburgh Free Academy- West
