Lorraine S. Eckert, of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. She was 88.

Daughter of the late Frederick and Anna Mae (Rhodes) Stults she was born on August 13, 1933 in Newburgh, NY.

A lifelong area resident, she was a retired bookkeeper with Mid – Valley Oil Co., Newburgh. A lover of all animals, wildlife and domesticated. Cats held a special place in her heart. She leaves behind her beloved cat, Zoey. Birds, chipmunks, turkeys, deer and squirrels were all feed and sometimes named. Lorraine liked to sew, read and cook. Family was always very important to her and all holidays were a festive event.

Survivors include a son, James F. (Michelle) Eckert of Clintondale; three daughters, Kimberly A. Eckert of New Windsor, Michelle (Stephen) Jones and Laurie (Michael) Betcher, both of the Town of Newburgh; six grandchildren, Lauren, James, Kristina, Sorin, Michael and Liam; seven great grandchildren, Isaiah, Elijah, Isabella, Adiella, Isaac, Ayla and Abigail; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, James J. Eckert in 2001 and a sister, Helen Kish.

Donations in Lorraine’s name can be made to a Humane Society of your choice.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, May 2, 2022 from 11 a.m.  to 1  pm, at White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 N. Plank Road, Newburgh.

A Funeral Service will take place 1 pm at the Funeral Home with the Rev, Steven Sherwood officiating.

Burial will follow at Modena Rural Cemetery, Modena, NY.
