Man arrested following stabbing in New Windsor

On Thursday, January 2, 2025, at approximately 9:14 a.m., the New Windsor Police Department responded to the Old Forge Hill Apartments for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a 45-year-old male with multiple stab wounds to his chest, face, and hands. He was bleeding profusely and was treated and transported by New Windsor EMS to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh for treatment.

A short time later a male suspect, matching the description provided by the victim, was located in the area. Khiyan Bascus, 22, of New Windsor, NY, was arrested. The weapons used in the attack were recovered. Mr. Bascus was held pending arraignment at the Centralized Arraignment Part in Goshen, NY. His charges are Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, a Class B Violent Felony, Assault 2nd Degree, a Class D Violent Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.

The New Windsor Police Department was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, Orange County

Sheriff’s Office, Town of Cornwall Police Department, and the Town of Blooming Grove Police Department K-9 Unit.
