Mausoleum to be rededicated

Posted

The Newburgh Preservation Association will host an open house and rededication ceremony on November 11, at 2 p.m. to mark the completion of the restoration of one of the City of Newburgh’s oldest and most distinctive structures.

The Robinson Mausoleum, built in 1853 in Newburgh’s Old Town Cemetery, has been restored to its original grandeur and represents another step in Newburgh’s continuing revitalization. Believed to have been designed by noted American architect A.J. Davis, it is the largest Egyptian Revival mausoleum in the USA.

The ceremony will take place in Newburgh’s Old Town Cemetery, 215 Grand Street.
