Mount’s KDP to host virtual education conference

Mount Saint Mary College’s Sigma Tau Chapter 451 of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), the international honor society in education, will present a three-day conference titled “Pandemic Pedagogy: Lessons Learned; Moving Forward” on Friday, November 12 through Sunday, November 14.

The free conference will be presented via Zoom and the public is invited to attend. CTLE credits will be available. Participants may choose to attend any or all of the following presentation dates: Friday, November 12, 2:30 – 5 p.m.; Saturday, November 13, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.; and Sunday, November 14, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

“Pandemic Pedagogy” will bring together educators from all over the world to discuss their experiences teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the pandemic’s impact on the future of education.

Presentations include:

• Social Emotional Learning, and Seamless Learning for the Future, Sweden
• Reconstructing the Educational Environment in the Post Pandemic World, Italy
• International SEND Remote Project, UK Pandemic Pedagogy as Permanent Pedagogy, USA
• The Case for a Caring Classroom, USA
• Rupture in Learning Ecology: Healing the Wounds, India.

The Mount’s Sigma Tau Chapter 451 of KDP is dedicated to service-learning in the local community. It has planned and implemented multiple events before and during the pandemic. Mount KDP students aided in a literacy program at the local charitable organization Newburgh Ministry; tutored students from Bishop Dunn Memorial School (a K-8 school on the campus of the Mount); hosted webinars on a variety of important topics like recycling, grant writing, and enhanced teaching techniques; and more.
