New Windsor’s Memorial Day parade is Sunday

Hello New Windsor. One of the players I coach in baseball was struck in the face with a line drive earlier this season and had a serious concussion and had to be out for a few weeks before he was cleared to come back. When he did come back, he was struggling at the plate because his timing was so off from missing baseball. I had found out that his dad is a huge Yankees fan and his all-time favorite player like me was Don Mattingly.

I have gotten to know Mattingly pretty well over the last five years and anytime his teams come to New York, we will go to the game and see him before the game. When my player was struggling I asked Mattingly if he could make a video for my player encouraging him that all will be OK. The other day I received a text message from him with the video for my player. My player and his dad were so excited, and it definitely worked as he has been on fire at the plate since he got it.

Thank you Don Mattingly for always being a class act on and off the field!
