The Newburgh Open Studios Tour returns for its 14th year on Sept. 28-29, inviting art lovers to explore the creative spaces of local artists. The event, which will run from noon to 6 p.m. each day, offers a behind-the-scenes look at the studios and works of more than 40 artists across Newburgh.

This year’s tour is dedicated to its late founder, Gerardo Castro, and continues his mission of fostering artistic expression and economic growth within Newburgh’s diverse community. Michael Gabor, co-organizer of the event, said the tour celebrates the livelihoods of working artists in the region, offering visitors a chance to engage with the vibrant local art scene.

Participating artists include Carla Aurich, whose abstract paintings will be on display at Tyler & Todd Home, 159 Broadway. Mary Bridgman’s oil portraits, which capture contemporary fashion, can be viewed at Regal Bag Studios, 26 High Street. Another stop at Regal Bag Studios features artist Elizabeth Grubaugh’s decorative surface pattern designs.

The Ann Street Gallery will host several artists, including Naomi Berkery with her emotive mixed-media portraiture and Jackie Skrzynski with paintings that focus on the beauty of plants. Sculptor Ian McMahon will showcase his works at 236 South William St., while the Holland Tunnel Gallery on Chambers Street will feature sculptor Marieken Cochius.

Visitors can also see plein air pastel landscapes by Gail Clark Fedigan at 15 City Terrace North, conceptual sculptures by Fabhaus Inc. at 26 Liberty St., and realist painter-turned-abstract artist Rick Brazill at Regal Bag Studios.

Free maps for the self-guided tour will be available at Newburgh Art Supply, 5 Grand St., as well as at each participating location.
