Megan Cameron finished fifth in the 200-yard individual medley, helping the Newburgh Free Academy girls’ swimming and diving team to an eighth-place finish at the Section 9 championships on Saturday at Valley Central High School.

Overall, the Goldbacks scored 119 points. Pine Bush won the meet with 413 points.

Cameron also finished sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke and was part of Newburgh’s fifth-place 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relay teams.

Elle Gerbes was sixth in the 50-yard freestyle and Taylor Chiaramonte made the diving finals with an 11-dive score of 341.80.
