Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus announced that the County Legislature made minimal changes to his 2023 Executive Recommended Budget during a special meeting to review it on Monday, November 14.

The Legislative’s changes totaled $1.3 million and the County Executive’s budget is expected to be adopted by the Legislature on December 1.

Neuhaus introduced his $896 million budget on September 27.

“This budget includes the lowest tax rate in 46 years which is a result of years of responsible fiscal planning,” Neuhaus said. “I am proud of the hard work of County employees and that independent auditors have validated the financial choices we have made. I enjoyed working collaboratively with the Legislature on this budget and look forward to building our successes.”

“It has been a pleasure working cooperatively with County Executive Neuhaus and the Legislature, to develop a budget that works for all residents,” said Katie Bonelli, Chairwoman of the Orange County Legislature. “This budget is disciplined and fiscally responsible. I commend County Executive Neuhaus, the Department Heads and all who worked to put this budget together.”

Added Legislature Majority Leader Tom Faggione: “I am proud of this budget and have enjoyed working collaboratively with County Executive Neuhaus and his administration. We will continue to find different ways to strengthen Orange County’s finances.”
