Public Hearing on City Budget

Newburgh City Council held a public hearing on Monday, November 15 to address comments and accept feedback on the proposed city budget for the Fiscal Year 2023.

Several comments made by residents to the council addressed concerns over staffing and needs in varying city departments and the inclusion of the vacancy house study in the upcoming budget in hopes of addressing the on-going housing crisis here in the city. Other comments were made regarding youth programming as focus in the budget, and several members of the city’s Arts and Cultural Commission thanked the city council and city staff for their continued support in their programming and events during the past year and going forward.

With no other members of the public coming forward, the public hearing closed and the city budget for 2023 will go before the council again on November 28 for a final vote of adoption.
