On Monday January 14, 2019, Robert A. Tompkins, entered into eternal rest, surrounded by his loving family. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he was 79 years old.

Bob was born November 9, 1939 to the late Henry W. and Bertha (Bedell) Tompkins, in Newburgh. On February 2, 1974 he married the love of his life Linda S. (Seibert) Tompkins and together they raised three children.
As a carpenter by trade, he enjoyed working with his hands, building and refinishing furniture/guns as well as creating beautiful wood working projects. He could fix anything from clocks to tractors and more!

Throughout his life he had an affection for animals of all kinds’ pigs, chickens, peacocks, horses and most importantly training many hunting dogs. He was an avid outdoors man with a passion for fishing and hunting. Bob was a member of the Bethlehem Rod and Gun Club and Trinity United Methodist Parish.

Known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and his kind compassionate spirit, admired by his friends and family he is survived by his beloved wife, Linda S. (Seibert) Tompkins at home; son, Robert H. Tompkins of the Town of Newburgh, daughters: Terry L. Harrelson of Maybrook and Denise (Tom) Vesely of Cornwall, daughter-in-law Antonietta Chiocchi of Wallkill; sister, Vernice “Neecy” (Elliott) Arnott of Newburgh, brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Anita Jean Seibert, loving grandchildren: Jessica (Bryan) Thompson, Patricia (Jared) Stoutenburg, Kristina Harrelson, Tommaso (Juliana) Tompkins, Dominick Tompkins and Joshua Jones; great grandchildren: Ashlynn, Wyatt, Bryan “Robby”, Amelia, Faith, Jayden, Landon, Jaxon, and one on the way, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sister, Frances Meyers, and an infant brother, Henry W. Tompkins, Jr.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Friday, January 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Rd., Town of Newburgh.

A Funeral Service will commence at 7 p.m. following the visitation at the funeral home. The Reverend John Williams will officiate.
A private cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory.
