Robert Milburn Bauer, born  in Newburgh, New York, on October 17, 1927 passed away on June 21, 2021 in Shawnee, Kansas. Born to Francis “Dutch” and Mary (Calhoun) Bauer, Bob lived in Newburgh his entire life, until moving to Kansas in 2016. 

Bob graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1945, playing varsity football. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945, serving his country for two years. Bob then returned to Newburgh where he began a career in the frozen food business, marrying Beverly Wescott in 1951. Together, they raised four children, Robin, Cindy, Kenneth, and Christopher. 

Bob was a former member of the Newburgh Kiwanis Club, Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Elks Club, The American Legion and was a two  term president of  the Union Grove Elementary School P.T.A.

Bob was a fun-loving  devoted sports fan. He was one of the founders of Newburgh’s Pop Warner football league, as well as co-founder and the first president of the Town of Newburgh Little League. Bob was a long-time Army football fan, organizing weekly tailgate parties.

Robert is survived by Beverly, in Shawnee, Kansas; Robin and her husband Joe of Shawnee; Cindy and her partner Kathleen of Tampa, Florida; Kenneth and his wife Valerie of Westwood, Kansas; and Christopher and his wife Karen of New Windsor, NY. He is adored by his six grandchildren: Laura, Nicholas (Jodi), Michael (Nicole), Abigail, Mary, and Madison, as well as six great grandchildren: Bruce, Oren, Rowan, Louisa, Francis, and Isidore. He is also fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Francis, Jr., Albert, Adelaide, Ruth, and Richard. Also, niece Megan, nephew Joseph, and step-grandson Bret.

A family service was  held in Kansas. A private interment will take place in Newburgh, at a later date.
