Shannon Marie Thorpe passed away November 10, 2024, in Portland OR.

Shannon was born Born July 5, 1978. A beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Shannon grew up in New Windsor, NY, and graduated in 1996 from Cornwall Central High School. She pursued higher education in the West, earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona. Shannon’s lifelong passion for service was exemplified by her time in the Peace Corps, where she spent two years in Guatemala improving lives and strengthening the local community. Her dedication to making a difference continued with AmeriCorps, where she served selflessly in Alaska, embodying her unwavering commitment to helping others.

Shannon was a dedicated social worker for the state of Oregon and a devoted mother to her two cherished children, Session (12) and Willa (9), whom she was raising in Portland. She loved creating lasting memories with them by camping along the Pacific Coast, paddleboarding on serene lakes, and hiking through Oregon’s breathtaking mountains.

Shannon’s greatest joys included cheering on her children at skate parks, immersing herself in music, and attending live shows, where she embraced the energy and connection that brought her so much happiness.

Shannon is survived by her two children, her loving parents, Richard and DorothymThorpe, and her siblings: Christopher Thorpe (Elizabeth), Michael Thorpe (Jane), Doreen Gleason (Thomas), Richard Thorpe, and Kelly Yarpezeshkan (Arya). She was also a proud aunt to her 14 nieces and nephews, each of whom brought her immense joy and filled her life with love.

Shannon will be remembered for her boundless love, adventurous spirit, and generosity. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
