Sir Eric Burton, KCN, of New Windsor, entered into rest on Friday, June 11, 2021. He was 90.

Son of the late William and Christina Burton, he was born January 9, 1931 in Codrington Village, Barbuda.

Sir Eric was a former parliamentarian for the government of Antigua and Barbuda. He was the leader of the opposition from 1984 to 1989, and the only elected member of the opposition during that period. In 2012, Sir Eric was conferred the honor of Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of the Nation for his service in politics, agriculture and the fishing industry. In 2019 Sir Eric paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Gaston Browne. He was married for 42 years to Maxine (Warner) Burton, Sir Eric  was instrumental in the development of the Island of Barbuda. He loved to cook, especially fish and soups.

In addition to his wife, Sir Eric is survived by a son, Kelly Burton; daughters, Linda Burton of Antigua and Barbuda, Caron Burton of Antigua and Barbuda, Lynette Burton of Mt. Vernon, NY, Maxine Burton Walker of Antigua and Barbuda and Nan Burton of England; sisters Pearl Askie of Antigua and Barbuda, Gladys Towsend of the United Kingdom, Princess Coltell of the United Kingdom, Lydia Denjamine of St. Thomas and Cristabelle Warren of the Virgin Islands; twenty eight grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by three sons, Lindy Burton, Clarke Burton and Lincoln Burton, and two daughters, Nioka Burton and Gail Burton.

All Services will be private.

Burial will take place in Antigua and Barbuda.

Arrangements are under the care of White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, Newburgh.
