Skoufis hosts shred event in Newburgh

Senator James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley), in partnership with Legal Shred and the Hudson Valley Credit Union, hosted a free Earth Week shredding event outside his district office in the City of Newburgh on April 24. Over 100 residents made appointments or dropped by to shred and recycle personal and legal documents throughout the day.

Secure and responsible document destruction can be an expensive and arduous project. Thanks to the generosity of Hudson Valley Credit Union and Legal Shred, Senator Skoufis was able to offer Legal Shred’s services for free for the second year in a row, providing local residents with a safe, convenient, and environmentally responsible option for disposing of sensitive personal and legal documents. A mobile shredding truck was parked in front of the Newburgh office, helping to recycle roughly three tons of confidential records, saving over 50 trees, keeping 10 cubic yards of waste out of landfills, and providing peace of mind for district residents.

“It was a privilege to once again partner with Legal Shred and the Hudson Valley Credit Union to support our community,” said Senator Skoufis. “Beyond keeping our personal information safe, responsible shredding helps limit our environmental impact and protect our planet. I’ll continue to host events for the direct benefit of constituents in the communities I serve.”

Judith H. Papo, the Owner and President of Legal Shred, said, “It was our privilege and pleasure to combine forces with Senator Skoufis’ office for the Earth Week community shred event. At our core, Legal Shred is focused on synergizing our shared commitment to community and the environment with local partners. This event not only provided secure shredding service to help protect our Hudson Valley neighbors from identity theft, but it also punctuated our celebration of Earth Week.”
