Town of Newburgh Police uncover meth lab

   On Sunday, Dec. 20 Town of Newburgh Police, along with New York State Police conducted a search warrant at Dogwood Lane in the Town of Newburgh. Police received a call to perform a welfare check on the resident of the property. Through investigation, it was learned the resident may have been involved in illegal activity.

   A search warrant was secured and executed at approximately 8am on Sunday. 

    Several items were taken from the home as evidence and the residence was released. Police arrested Stephen Affron, 69 years old , of Newburgh. Affron was charged with six counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine 3rd and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th.  

    Affron was arraigned before Town of Crawford Justice Mark Schuh where bail was set in lieu of $100,000 cash, $200,000 secured bond or $350,000 partial bond. Affron was then turned over to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. 

    Assisting at the scene were Cronomer Valley Fire Department, Town of Newburgh Volunteer Ambulance and Orange County Hazmat.
