Union Avenue hotel project receives final approval

The New Windsor Planning Board issued final approval for the project known as “Banta Hospitality’’. The final approval was recommended to be approved by the planning board’s legal counsel, based on comments to be addressed by MHE Engineering, bonding of the site landscape and a stormwater maintenance facilities agreement.

The project known within town records as “Banta Hospitality” is being represented by M.A. Day Engineering. According to a representative from the engineering firm, the project and application had not seen any movement for some time due to a construction moratorium in the town.

According to the planning board chairman, the project has appeared before the planning board and its additional representatives several times over the past few years. The project made its initial appearance back in 2017 and held a public hearing in July 2019. The project currently has highway and fireman inspector approval.

The proposed project is a four story guest hotel with 93 rooms with additional parking lots on the former Steak & Stein restaurant site on Union Avenue. Adjacent to the parcel where the proposed hotel is to be located is Red Roof Inn and Suites Newburgh and the Ikaros Diner.
