Msgr. Henry O’Carroll Knights of Columbus Council 444 is hosting the Annual Basketball Free Throw Competition, on January 23, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Unity Center, 21 South William Street in New-burgh.  Cost is Free!

Boys and Girls, ages 9 – 14, as of January 1, 2022 may participate.  

Parent’s consent and proof of age is required to participate in this competition.  All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation, and winners of each age bracket will receive a Winner’s Certificate and Trophy.  Winners progress through local, district, regional, state, and international competition.

Newburgh Free Library Town Branch in the Newburgh Mall offers our youngsters and the young in heart, a myriad of activities making learning lots of fun.

Shake, Rattle & Read: Tuesday, Jan. 11 and 25, from 1 to 1:30 p.m.  Join Ms. Carol for a music and movement program featuring books, songs, and lots of fun.  Ages 1-5, with caregiver.

Sprouts & Shoots Storytime!  Wednesdays, Jan. 12, 19, 26, from 12:30 to 1 p.m.  Join us for a fun storytime with books, songs, rhymes, and an activity.  This program is open to all children ages, 2-5 years, with caregiver participation, come grow with us!  Masks are required for all age 3 and over.  Contact Bonnie for more info at (845) 563-3612.

Tail Waggin’ Tutors!  Tuesday, Jan. 11, 18, 25, from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.  Join us with your child for some calm reading time with a Certified Therapy Dog!  If your child needs practice time reading aloud or just a few minutes of time with a non-judgemental Therapy Dog, this program is for you.  One family at a time will be able to read with our pup…join us!

Gentle Yoga with Rae of Light—Virtual (Online) Wednesday, Jan. 12, from 10 to 11:15 a.m.  Gentle yoga is an adaptation of yoga forms that are less taxing than other yoga squences.  This makes Gentle Yoga particularly good for beginners or those with physical limitations, though all are encouraged to attend.  For Adults and Seniors, location is Town Branch – Back.  Presenter is Susan Ann Walsh.  Registration required: (845) 566-0460.  There are 15 seats available.

NY Project Hope visits the Town Branch, Monday, Jan. 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  NY Project Hope helps New Yorkers understand their reactions and emotions during COVID-19. Through an emotional support helpline, educational materials, and trusted referrals, NY Project Hope helps people manage and cope with changes brought on by COVID-19.

NY Project Hope Crisis Counselors understand what you are going through. Talking to them is free, confidential, and anonymous. Talk to someone who is trained, knowledgeable and never judges. Sometimes it helps to talk with someone you don’t know.

No registration required - just stop in to say hi!

Tuesday At Two Book Discussion: Tuesday, Jan. 25, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.  Join librarian, Patty Sussmann, at the Town Branch for a book discussion of “Anna Eva Mimi Adam,” by MarinaAntropow Cramer.  Ms. Cramer is a local author & will be attending the discussion.

Print copies of the book are now available through the library catalog.  Call (845) 563-3600, if you need help placing holds.  Registration is encouraged.
