R A Jenkin - American Hieroglyphs - Opening Reception

About The Exhibition
I use small everyday iconic objects and symbols to create large works that reflect American history and culture. The meaning of each small piece, in part, lies in its simplicity. Each amalgamated and completed work has a larger and more complex meaning.

The images - paper postage stamps, pennants, tears, stones, and crosses - can evoke an idea, a question, a narrative, or a memory.

I hope the works can reach the viewer’s soul and help make sense of our past and present.

Materials used include paper, silk, antique silk thread, pen and ink, bubble wrap, vinyl, and a variety of fabrics.

The exhibition begins Sept 21 and ends Oct 26..
