Angela Centonze Casiero, 100, of Highland, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2021 at SpiriTrust Lutheran, Village at Shrewsbury, located in Schrewsbury PA.

Born on July 09, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY, Angela was the eldest of 4 children born to Leonardo & Maria (Matera) Centonze. Her siblings were residents of Highland and include John Centonze, Rose Olson and Marie Arena (they predeceased her).

When not in Brooklyn, Angie  spent summers in Highland helping her aunt & uncle on D'Arecca's Farm which is now theMaple Crest) she worked summers at the  family-owned resort. After graduating from Washington Irving H.S. in Manhattan, she started working as a seamstress & helped pack yarn at Knightly Bernard in New York City.

On November 05,1944, Angela married Anthony B. Casiero of Brooklyn, NY at St. Rosalie Catholic Church in Brooklyn. The happy couple started their family & had 3 boys (Paul, Leonard & Anthony). In 1960, they all moved from Ossining to Highland. Angie was employed by the Highland School District for 25 years as dietition & head chef at the High School cafeteria. She always brought her talent with food to each & every meal. Former students still talk about her chocolate black out cake! Angie was always an excellent cook & baker.  Everyone loved her food, especially her Sunday sauce & Easter bread. Angie's other skills include crocheting, knitting & sewing which she has shared her secrets over the years to all. We can honestly say there is something handmade by Angie in every one of her family's homes.

Angela was a very devout parishioner of St. Augustine's Church. She joined the Alter Rosary Society to help with the church cleaning & linen laundering. For many years, at the annual church bazaar, Angie  was in charge of the calzones & fried dough. She loved doing it!

Angie enjoyed bowling & was in a women's league. When not bowling, these same women had a club called "The Yakety Yaks" (Angie, Rose Olson, Nancy Centonze, Edith Tinacci, Marie Mazzetti & Tina Henderson). They met regularly to plan their family outings, a party or a group vacation plus so many other social gatherings & fundraisers within the community. Cards? Angie was always ready for a good game or, she would join a trip to Atlantic City on the bus as often as possible.

Angela's life was centered around spending time with her family & extended family. All living on the same property (Maple Crest)    She was surrounded by family. She is survived by her son's Leonard (Lovell) & Anthony ( Patrice). Angela was predeceased by her eldest son, Paul Casiero. Angie was loved by all, especially her granddaughters Deena Casiero, Corrine Masterson (Dennis), Cassandra Casiero, Sharon Bright (Aaron) and great-grandchildren, Jake, Aidan,Riley Masterson and Priscilla, Annabelle & Vivienne Bright. Angela was also very loved by her many (MANY) nieces, great nieces, nephews & great nephews.

Angela moved to an apartment close to her son in Pennsylvania in 2014. She became a parishoner of St. John The Baptist Church & enjoyed the fellowship. Angela spent her remaining years at the Spiritrust Lutheran Home in Shrewsbury, PA where her care & needs were met by her son Leonard & wife Lovell.
