Upcoming events at the Highland Public Library
Crafts are available through our curbside service until Saturday, March 19. Upcoming Curbside crafts this week include Preschool Shamrock Wreath, perfect for children 2-5. A curbside Saint Patrick’s Card kit is available for elementary age children. St. Patrick’s Day Paper Dolls Craft Kits  are available for ages 8-12.
Please register each child who will be getting a kit. We will have a craft themed book for you to check out if you choose. The book will be checked out to you and due in 3 weeks.
Little Acorns story and music time with a take-home craft will be held on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. for ages 2 and up. Registration is required. 
Tai Chi Easy takes place every Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Yoga with Michelle, canceled during the pandemic, returns in person at the library on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. Embark on a journey of mind, body and spirit. Masks must be worn. Registration is required

Plattekill Seniors’ Group seek new members
The Plattekill Golden Seniors Club is looking for new members. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at the Plattekill Library. We have luncheons and bus trips and different activities.

Plattekill Auxiliary to meet
Have you ever thought about helping the community? Come to a meeting of the Plattekill Fire Dept. Auxiliary and get involved.
The next auxiliary meeting will take place on Thursday, March 17 at 7 p.m. at the Plattekill Firehouse, 50 Old Firehouse Road.
The group will be planning and discussing upcoming events and fundraisers.

Need a Chromebook?
Borrow one from the library
The Plattekill Public Library has a number of Chromebooks available for checkout.
The laptops are available for a seven-day loan period. Borrow must be at least 17 years of age and a resident of the Plattekill Library District. Patrons will be responsible for lost, stolen or damaged Chromebooks.

Borrowers must present a library card and a photo ID and sign a user agreement.
Call the library at 845-883-7286 to reserve your Chrimebook.

Plattekill Library to host wreath-making workshop
Need a year-round wreath for your front door? Come to the Plattekill Library on Wednesday, March 23 at 6 p.m. and make one in their adult crafts workshop.
All supplies will be provided. Register online at plattekill.lib.ny.us. Registration is required.

The library is located at 2047 State Route 32, Modena.

Plattekill hosts Electronics Drop-Off day
The Southern Ulster Rotary Club will host an electronic drop-off day at Plattekill Town Hall on Saturday, March 26, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
All collected electronic waste, including TVs, computers, printers, phones, cables, games, will be recycled through the Town of Plattekill Transfer Station.

There is no charge for this event. A suggested donation of $15 towards your local Rotary Club community projects is appreciated.

Plattekill Fire Department hosts raffle
The Plattekill Fire Department is hosting a summer of fun jumble raffle. Tickets, at $40 each or three for $100, and are on sale through April 11.
Prizes include a $250 KOA Camping Gift Card that is honored at all KOA locations, cooler, Coleman Camp Grill, two camp chairs and gift cards from Cherry Top Dairy, Stewarts and Hannafords.
The drawing will take place on April 13 on the Plattekill Fire Department Facebook Page.

Modena welcomes the Easter Bunny
The Modena Ladies Auxiliary will host the Easter Bunny for lunch and kids’ bingo on the day before Easter, Saturday, April 16, 1 - 3 p.m.
Admission is free, but donations are accepted.

Plattekill to host Easter egg hunt
After a two-year hiatus, the Easter Bunny is coming back to Plattekill.
The town recreation department will host an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 10 at 10 a.m. at the Thomas Felten Park. The Easter Bunny will be there and will be available for photos with anyone.

All ages are welcome. No registration is necessary.

Dinner Dance benefits Highland Educational Foundation
This year’s Highland Educational Foundation Spring Gala (previously the Snowball) will be held on April 23 from 6 - 10 p.m. at Novella’s in New Paltz. Tickets are $65 each, with a cash bar. There will be dinner, dancing, and a silent auction.
Tickets are available by calling or texting Luke at 845.430.5679. Proceeds will support teacher mini-grants for projects to benefit HSCD students.

Young writers group to meet

Gardiner Library presents WordPOP Young Writers Group Thursday March 24, 4:30 - 5 p.m.
Young creative writers ages 7-10 come share your flair and imagination. Whether it’s poetry, short stories, or prose, share your work and learn new techniques. Original art is welcome, too. All completed and edited work will be featured in the first edition literary publication for this age group. Meetings will be held once a month.

Easter comes to Christmas Tree Lane
The Pallet Barn at Christmas Tree Lane in Wallkill will host an Easter egg hunt on April 16 at 11 a.m.

There will be two separate age groups participating, with grand prizes. There will also be music and food and drinks available.
Organizers are asking for a donation of $2 per child and for each child to bring a basket to gather the eggs.
