Marlboro’s District Level Spelling Bees were held on December 15 and 21. All our spellers put forth a great effort but, in the end, victory belonged to Madeline-Camille Bell, a grade 6 student from Marlboro Middle School and Yoonis Salah, a Grade 4 student from Marlboro Elementary School. The winners will go on to compete in the Scripps Capital Region Spelling Bee later this winter. Thank you to all our Spelling Bee participants, organizers, and judges!

St. Mary’s Church
The rectory is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can always call the rectory or email at any time, and someone will get back to you – emails and phone messages are checked every day.

We have set the air conditioner/heating units at 70 degrees in St. Mary’s. If it drops below 70 degrees warm air will blow out. When the temperature is above 70 degrees, they do blow a little cool air. We wanted to make you aware so that you can plan accordingly, bring a sweater, or don’t sit directly in line with them, if the air makes you cold.

From Fr Tom: “I would like to thank all of you for your Christmas cards, gifts, good wishes and all the tasty goodies you gave me this holiday season. Your thoughtfulness and generosity are so very much appreciated - there are not enough adequate words to express my gratitude. God bless you and your families with happiness and good health throughout this year and always..”

Holidays are often a challenging time for those who are in the process of recovery from any kind of addiction. Please note that one of the AA groups meets each Wednesday and Sunday at St. Mary’s Hall at 7 p.m.

Please remember there is no on street parking during snow/ice events. Municipal lots are available in both towns and vehicles must be removed 24hrs after an event.
In Marlboro:

WEEKLY RECIPE

Roman-Style Chicken Recipe courtesy of Giada De Laurentiis
Ingredients:
4 skinless chicken breast halves, with ribs
2 skinless chicken thighs, with bones
1/2 teaspoon salt,
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup olive oil
1 red bell pepper
1 yellow bell pepper, sliced 3 ounces prosciutto
2 cloves garlic chopped
1 (15-ounce) can diced tomatoes
1/2 cup white wine
1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
1 teaspoon fresh oregano leaves
1/2 cup chicken stock
2 tablespoons capers
1/4 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves
1. Season the chicken with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. In a heavy, large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. When the oil is hot, cook the chicken until browned on both sides. Remove from the pan and set aside.
2. Keeping the same pan over medium heat, add the peppers and prosciutto and cook until the peppers have browned, and the prosciutto is crisp, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the tomatoes, wine, and herbs. Using a wooden spoon, scrape the browned bits off the bottom of the pan. Return the chicken to the pan, add the stock, and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, until the chicken is cooked through, about 20 to 30 minutes. If serving immediately, add the capers and the parsley. Stir to combine and serve.

Happy Birthday: Tom McLaughlin, Mary Carroll O’Connor, Harry Eckert, Rachel Luong, Nicole Biengardo.
