Edward A. Carter, 80, of New Paltz, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 29, 2020. Edward is survived by his brother Richard Carter and sister Linda LaFalce, both of Coxackie, NY, grandchildren Matthew Solaas and Rebecca Decker, and great-grandson Davis Decker all of Kingston, NY, sisters-in-law Joan Hegeman of Boynton Beach, FL and Susan Moraca of Highland, NY, and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Patricia Carter and daughter Shari Carter-Solaas.

Eddie, Buddy, or Buddy-Pa as he was known to his family served six years in the United States Navy, then spent the remainder of his career at IBM retiring in 1989. He loved sports and could usually be found enjoying a Giants or Mets game on television. He loved to fish. Eddie was a wonderful friend and neighbor, and will be remembered fondly.

Eddie loved animals. He spent the past several years caring for his late daughter’s dachshund, Buddy, whom she had named after him. Eddie often took Buddy for drives around the reservoir, and always remembered to cook him scrambled eggs for breakfast and chicken for dinner. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 from 4pm-6pm, at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Main St, Highland.

In observance of New York State guidelines, we will be limiting visitors to no more than 33% of our maximum capacity; A distance of at least 6 ft. must be maintained amongst all individuals inside our funeral home and acceptable face coverings must be worn while inside. We kindly ask after paying your respects, that you exit promptly so that we can continue to move guests in and out of the funeral home.
A private burial will follow at a later date.
