USS Slater artifacts on display

at Highland Library
During World War II, 563 Destroyer Escorts battled Nazi U-boats on the Atlantic protecting convoys of men and material. In the Pacific they stood in line to defend naval task forces from Japanese submarines and Kamikaze air attacks. Today, only one of these ships remains afloat in the United States, the USS SLATER.
View the USS Slater artifacts displayed through April in the Highland Public Library Meeting Room.  The library has a membership pass to the USS Slater museum in Albany for Highland residents to check out. All of the library’s museum passes are made possible by the Friends of the Highland Public Library.
