Town of Newburgh Police have charged four in the death of a man who apparently fell from a Town of Newburgh roof.

On August 10, at approximately 9:15 p.m, officers from the Town of Newburgh Police Department responded to Willella Place in the Town of Newburgh, for a reported “man down”. Officers arrived and found a 38-year-old male, later identified as Edgar Stone, lying in the driveway with significant injuries.

Witnesses on scene advised officers that Stone had fallen or jumped from the roof in an apparent attempted suicide. Officers observed a ladder that was placed to the roof of the house.

Stone was transported by Town of Newburgh EMS to St. Luke’s in Newburgh, where he was subsequently flown to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition. The ensuing investigation determined that Stone did not jump or fall off the roof.

Detectives learned that Stone was in fact assaulted.

Stone, of Philipsburg PA, later succumbed to his injuries sustained during the assault, passing away in the hospital. Detectives immediately began investigating the incident as a homicide.

Over the course of the next few days through several interviews, physical evidence gathered and numerous other leads, Detectives charged four subjects in connection with the homicide.
Arrested individuals and their charges:
David C Quaglietta, 27 years old from Plattekill (Manslaughter 1st) .
Samantha A Mitzner, 36 years old from Plattekill (Manslaughter 1st).

Danaya M Matychak, 23 years old from Newburgh (Manslaughter 1st).
Marica L Strang, 41 years old from Newburgh (Manslaughter 1st).
