Frank Ernest Halstead, 91, of New Paltz, New York, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Born May 17, 1929 in East Side, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Frank and Pearl (Cashdollar) Halstead.
On June 18, 1967 Frank married Joan Marie Morgan. They had more than 53 happily devoted years together before she passed on January 12, 2020.
He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War from 1948 to 1951. After his return from the Army he was employed by Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh, New York as a custodian until his retirement in 1994.
Survivors include his nieces, Ellen B. Feasel of Poughkeepsie, NY, Jennifer (Feasel) Larry, Lorraine (Feasel) Gress, Marge (Halstead) O’Leary, Peggy (Halstead) Feasel, Peggy (Halstead) Sheely, and Nora Halstead; his nephews, Raymond Feasel, Ernest Feasel, Wesley Halstead; his sister-in-law, Joyce Rawling of Clintondale, NY; and many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife Joan, he was predeceased by his brothers, Robert, Francis and Westly Halstead; his sister, Irene Ruth (Halstead) Feasel; his niece, Kathleen (Halstead) Blackburn and his nephew, Gary Halstead.
Burial was in Ulster County Veterans Cemetery at the New Paltz Cemetery, 81 Plains Road, New Paltz on Tuesday, September 29 at 11:30 a.m. with full military honors.
