Gary A. Ronk, Sr

Gary A. Ronk, Sr., 72, of New Paltz, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday October 15, 2022, at his home.

Born June 30, 1950, in Kingston, New York he was the son of Vera (Atkins) Ronk and the late Herbert A. Ronk.

On January 8, 1967, in New Paltz, New York Gary married the love of his life, Nora Williams. They had over 55 happy years together before his passing.

He was a skilled mechanic and ran his own family business, Gary’s Truck & Auto, in Modena.

Gary enjoyed going to car shows, collecting/restoring tractors, stock car racing and mowing his lawn to perfection. He was happiest however, at the frequent family gatherings he organized. He wanted his family at the house every weekend for Sunday dinners and loved to make a fire in the backyard to relax by.

Survivors include his loving wife, Nora Ronk of New Paltz, NY; his devoted children, Gary Ronk Jr. and his girlfriend, Jen of Rosendale, NY, Robert Ronk and his girlfriend, Jenn of New Paltz, NY, Brian Ronk and his wife, Cheryl of New Paltz, NY, Ralph Ronk and his wife, Paula of Modena, NY, Matthew Ronk and his girlfriend, Hannah of New Paltz, NY, Vicki Jordan and her husband, Daniel of Walden, NY; his mother Vera Ronk; his siblings, Sharon Jones and her husband, Herbie of Clintondale, NY, Jill DePew and her husband, Wayne of Winterhaven, FL, Linda Dembicki of Hyde Park, NY, Patricia Minnerly of Manning, SC, and Clyde Ronk and his wife, Peggy of Greenfield Center, NY; his grandchildren, Rebecca Hasbrouck and her husband, Cody of New Paltz, NY, Courtney Ronk and her boyfriend, Anthony Tarantino of Wallkill, NY, Miranda Archie and her husband, Tyler of Gardiner, NY, Addy and Lauryn Ronk of New Paltz, NY, Patrick Alivia and Emma Jordan of Walden, NY, McKenzie, Ryan, Maddison and Lincoln Ronk of Modena, NY and Haylee Coddington of New Paltz, NY; his great grandchild, Joslyn Tarantino; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his father, Gary was also predeceased by his brother, Ronald Ronk.

Friends may call on Saturday October 22, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Copeland-Hammerl Funeral Home, 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz.

Burial will follow at the Modena Rural Cemetery, 2165 NY-32, Modena, New York 12548 at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Gary’s name be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 200 Vesey Street, 28th floor, New York, New York 10281.
