Gloria M. Coutant Setterlund died on Friday, October 23, 2020 at home in Greenwood, South Carolina.
She was the daughter of the late Tracy S. and Ethel M. Coutant.
Gloria was born on May 28, 1928 in Poughkeepsie. On July 20, 1952 she married Howard E. Setterlund at the Friends Meeting House in Clintondale, New York. Howard pre-deceased her in 2012. She lived her entire life in Clintondale, New York until moving with family to Greenwood, South Carolina in 2019.
She graduated from Highland High School in 1945, attended New Paltz College and graduated from Krissler Business Institute, Poughkeepsie, New York in June of 1947.
She was employed by the DeLaval Separator Company as Secretary in the Engineering Department, and then became a stay at home mom. Gloria retired from the United States Postal Service in 1990 as Postmaster of Clintondale Post Office.
She was an active member in the Clintondale Friends Meeting. She taught Sunday school, and served on many committees related to the Friends Meeting. Gloria was an active member of the Ladies Circle and she was an assistant Den Mother of Troop 171 Highland. She was Past Matron of the Highland Chapter #385 and Wawarsing chapter# 225 and the Past Grand Officer of Order of the Eastern Star in 1981.
Gloria is survived by two sons, Eric T. Setterlund and his wife Jacqueline S. of Greenwood, SC and Tracy E. Setterlund. two lovely granddaughters Christina A. and her husband Jose R. Larroy, and Jennifer S. and her husband James M. Kelley; one great granddaughter Carina L. Larroy; a sister, H. Marie Thorn of Pittsford; nephews, David and wife, Jan of Branchport, NY, John and wife Susan of Sanford, NC, and wife of Brian, Diane of Fairport, NY; as well as many grand nieces and nephews.
There was a private graveside service at Lloyd Cemetery, on Friday October 30, 2020 with Pastor Dan Whitley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Gloria’s name be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646 (hospicepiedmont.org).
