Greg Tooker’s 1970 Chevrolet Nova SS

I recently interviewed Greg Tooker at the Highland Cruise Nights at the Bridgeview Plaza. Greg has an awesome 1970 Chevrolet Nova SS (Super Sport). Greg told me that he has owned the Nova for approximately 8 years. He purchased the car in California from a movie producer that worked on the movie classic “Death Proof”, which was directed by Quentin Taratino and starred Kirk Russell. The star in the movie was also a 1970 Chevy Nova.

Greg’s Nova sports a 427 V8 engine with a 5-speed Tremec TKO Transmission. The 427 high performance big block engine produces 550 horsepower to the rear wheels. His car also has a 12-bolt rear end which will leave a nice positraction mark on the street if he ever had to leave quickly. The car also sports its original Forest Green exterior paint color.

I asked Greg what were his favorite and worst times with his Nova. He advised that his favorite moment with his car was when he came in first place at the annual car show held at James Baird State Park in Dutchess County. He said his worst moment with his car was when he scraped the oil pan and caused a leak. Greg told me that his favorite music to cruise with is ZZ Top, and his favorite person to cruise with is Jack Baxter. Greg told me that his first car was a 1965 Ford Mustang GT.

Specifications: Base price $2,200; Nova Series Produced 315,122; Length 189.0 inches; Width 73.0 inches; Wheelbase 111.0 inches; 0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds.
